Entry Level Marketing Jobs, What a Good First Offer Looks Like

A first marketing job shapes your skills and your pay for years. Know what the titles mean and what to ask so your first offer builds your career instead of stalling it.

What entry level marketing titles mean

Coordinator, associate, assistant and specialist overlap. Look at the duties, not the title: a role that includes real campaign work and reports with a manager who reviews your work teaches faster than one that is administrative tasks only.

What to look for in a first marketing offer

  • A stated pay range and a review date.
  • A named manager who will teach you.
  • Real tools and access to campaign data.
  • A written scope that does not expect several jobs from one junior.
  • A reasonable notice period and no wide non compete. Unpaid trials and "build us a full strategy" tests are a flag. A short, paid, clearly limited exercise is fair.

Check your first offer

Paste the offer into Offer Check. It shows vague promises such as "family atmosphere" used instead of terms, and gives you questions to ask. To see how pay develops, read the marketing salary guide. Prefer working from home? See remote marketing jobs.
